The Effect on Liver Structure of Treat- Varied Dietary Conditions Me,nt with Adrenocorticotropin Under

چکیده

The manner in which the physiology and anatomy of the liver are regulated or modified by endocrine secretions is poorly understood. Further, in view of the broad extent of anterior hypophyseal control over the various structures of the body, it is reasonable to expect that an organ of such varied and diverse functions as the liver might be affected more significantly by hypopliyseal activity than is apparent at the moment. The recent isolation of hypophyseal adrenocorticotropin in an apparently homogeneous form (Li, Simpson and Evans, '42) provides a useful tool for study of the relationship of the anterior hypophysis to the cytology of the liver. One might presume that through a stimulation of adrenal cortical secretion, the physiology, and hence the morphology, of the liver would be altered since it has been established that some of the steroids which have been isolated from the adrenal cortex modify certain metabolic activities of the liver. For example, they have been reported to influence carbohydrate metabolism and to increase the level of liver glycogen. These steroids promote the conversion of protein (Long, Katzin and Fry, '40), pyruvate and d-lactate (Koepf et al., '41) t o carbohydrate and the conversion of glucose

Effects of different dietary levels of AFB1 on survival rate and growth factors of Beluga (Huso huso)

In the present study, the impacts of various concentrations of Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) on Beluga, Huso huso, under controlled conditions were investigated. Belugas (120±10g) were fed on diets containing 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 ppb AFB1/kg of diet for 3 months. Results showed various levels of AFB1 do not significantly affect the specific growth ratio (SGR) (P < 0.05) of fish in different treatments...

Effect of Dietary Melatonin and L-Tryptophan on Growth Performance and Immune Responses ofBroiler Chicken under Experimental Aflatoxicosis

The aim of the present work was to determine whether the administration of melatonin or L-tryptophan (a precursor of melatonin) affects the immune responses and performance of broilers during induced exposure to aflatoxins in feed. The study was conducted from 0-6 weeks comprising six dietary treatments in triplicate with10 chickens in each replicate. The diets were formulated to supply 23% cr...

Influence of dietary nucleotides on growth performance and stress resistance in Kutum (Rutilus kutum Kamenskii, 1901)

A feeding trial has been conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary nucleotide (NT) on growth performance and stress resistance of fry kutum (Rutilus kutum Kamenskii, 1901). A basal diet supplemented with 0 (control), 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 g NT kg-1 have been formulated for four experimental diets. After 8 weeks of feeding trial, growth parameters were evaluated and then fish has exposed to osmoti...
